This is the latest story about a friend of Marc's who put together a concert/benefit this past Friday. Marc was able to attend, and he said it was a great turnout of friends -- even danced!! It's very touching how much the community has stepped up the support. Lark xoxo

Update from Gigi & Marc's Return
Hello Everyone,
The summer of 2009 has been a tremendous adjustment for me and my family. Reeling from shock, despair and anger, each and everyone of you has not only caught my family and I from falling into an abysmal despondency but also carried us along from such depth to see the eventual light and the resumption of a life worth living albeit different. Bouyed with your generosity and endless, continuing prayers we have managed to make the house beautifully accessible to Marc. The fund is continuing to grow and will eventually be used for Marc's vehicle to give him independence. With everything in place Marc's coming home will be a joyous moment and not a dreaded ordeal it would have been if not for everybody's hard work.
Marc is doing well. Still in a wheelchair but with good spirit thanks to everyone's effort to keep that spirit and smile in place.
He is coming home tomorrow Thursday August 20th.
With everything that is done and will be done I thank you all.
Maria Gigi Floresca

Marc Floresca's Welcome Home
Evening Everyone!!!
Looks like Marc will be coming home on time this week.
Due to hockey games and hall availability it was decided to join St Michael's monthly Birthday Celebration and add Marc's Welcome Home Event.
Mark your calendars for
Wednesday, August 26th
6:30 p.m.
411 Missouri St, West Memphis, AR
We will be in the Hall - entrance on the back side of the church.
They are having Mass at 6pm but don't worry you do not have to attend to join in the Welcome Home event.
It is Pot Luck and the theme is Hawaiian style. Drinks will be provided.
There will be sign up sheets for future fundraising events - so if you haven't signed up yet this will be another opportunity to help out.
Should you have any questions contact Tina Caron 901-481-2525 or U86Wildcat@aol.com (it's an old college addy).

Marc Floresca's Welcome Home Event Postponed
Good'day Everyone!!
Just a quick note and feel free to pass along.
We are postponing Marc's Welcome Home Event due to the fact that he won't be here.
He's had a few complications that has set his therapy back a little. Don't worry it's not unusual and he's doing just fine. I'm working on another date and will keep you posted on time, date and place. Should you have any questions or want to help with set up or tear down - let me know so I'll put you on my list....call or email me U86Wildcat@aol.com (it's my college email) or 901-481-2525. Thanks for your patience and support.
Hope you have a fantastic week and I'm happy to help if you need anything.

Marc Floresa Iron Man Inline Tournament

We are pleased to announce the timing for the Marc Floresca "Ironman" inline hockey tournament to be held at the Cordova Skate Center on Sept 6-7, 2009. The goal of this tournament is to raise funds for the Marc Floresca Recovery Fund and all proceeds generated will flow to this fund. His greatest love, besides his family, is hockey. We want the entire community to rally behind this tournament as a way to support him- both emotionally and financially.
For those not familiar Marc Floresca is a long time Memphis hockey dad, player, and coach in the roller hockey and ice hockey community. Marc permanently injured his lower back when a tree struck him during the severe thunderstorms that swept through Memphis on June 12, 2009. At this time Marc is still paralyzed from below the waist and is recovering at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Marc is due to return back home to Memphis in approximately two weeks.
Two days of rink availability have been donated by Cordova Skate Center and we want to fill all available spots- first with youth teams and then with adult teams as space permits. The format will be ironman 4 on 4 (plus goalie) with no substitutions and a 3 game guarantee over the weekend. Please see the attached flyer for details and please pass this along to all in the roller and ice hockey community to build the largest support base possible.
If you can assist with the tournament (including registration, refereeing, etc) please let me know. Players can build their own team and register as a group or I'll be happy to collect individuals and place on a team as needed.
Thanks in advance for your support.
